lassarina: Week One Mid-Point

Sorry this is a day late! I had utterly lost track of days thanks to my friend Mr. Influenza, who showed up unannounced and far outstayed his welcome.

How are you all doing? I hope your word counts look healthier than my piffling 2391.

Once again, if there's anything I can do to help keep you all motivated, please let me know!

I'm at a little over 6700 words, though the last 2000 I wrote is probably crap, doesn't follow my outline, and will probably end up being edited out. So.

I don't know if anyone's ever posted about it, but I discovered yWriter yesterday, and it kind of changed my life. I also recently discovered that writing with longhand may be frustrating but seems to help with the writer's block.

And heee, sorry about your flu. I hope it's not H1N1 or something. (People are going crazoooors where I am about this damn thing.)

Hey, NaNo's all about going in the wrong direction and backtracking :) No shame in editing come December 1!

I have a ridiculously hard time writing longhand, largely due to the fact that I can't keep up with my brain. (I type 130 wpm; after that, longhand writing is death for creativity.)

Pretty sure it's not H1N1; I've been sick for about four days now and mostly over it except a lingering cough. I just slept for 3 days, more or less. Le sigh. People around here are a bit nuts, too, but mostly they're harping the same line they do every year: stay home if you're sick, rest a lot, wash your hands, etc. We've had entire schools closed down and we have vaccines being distributed via the school system, so that helps. (Illinois may run on graft and corruption, but they get the important things done. Now if only they could balance the budget...)

Hahaha yes. There will be lots and lots of it. :|

I think I re-disocvered writing long hand because I had ulnian tunnel problems this summer, so typing became a problem. Also. Easier to steal writing time in class when writing longhand. XD

Maaaan, sleeping for three days is good. Ijeelus. I'm in Quebec where this whole immunization thing really went haywire - they had issues with ordering the vaccines, the radio created a moral panic AND sent mixed messages about how to proceed. So in short, there's a lot of useless freaking out up here. I tip my hat to the other provinces who seem to be much more organized.

Well, the advantage to being unemployed (such as it is) is that one has as many sick days as one needs. (I'd still rather have the job.)

Sorry to hear y'all are having such shenanigans! I seriously think the mainstream media has nothing better to do than be misogynist, flog up massive panics, and titter behind their hands about oh noes sex. but I am more than slightly bitter and disillusioned.

(I bet. I actually quit a job to resume the student life, but I'm not necessarily sane. Well. I didn't have much choise and this is getting into tl;dr territory, so I better stop now).

Amen to all of the above. There's something very wrong about the manipulation of information in our century. *sigh*

Also, ICON love.

Thu, Nov. 5th, 2009 06:36 pm (UTC)

Icon was so universally appropriate it became my default. XD

I've vaguely considered going back to the student life, but anything I care about enough to get an advanced degree in will not pay for itself in anything approaching a reasonable span of time, so. No more education for me.

Thu, Nov. 5th, 2009 06:40 pm (UTC)

Yeeeah, I get you on that one. I just decided no to think about the future and do something I wanted to do, but then again, I'm not known for making rational decisions, EVER.

Thu, Nov. 5th, 2009 06:42 pm (UTC)

Icon love.

I'm still paying off my undergrad, and my degree's in history. So. Yeah. About that. x_x; Also, grad school is a lot of work and while I was employed I got accustomed to eating Things That Aren't Ramen, and would like to continue in this vein (seeing as college was a weird aberration from the habits of my life age 0-18 and 21+--that whole not eating veggies or meat so often really messed with me.)

I'd totally go get 4 more degrees if I won the lotto or something, but the odds of that...not fabulous.

curtana is the win for these - she has such talent with iconning.

Urgh, yeah, I hear you on that. I'm just lucky that I have a support system for this project - otherwise I wouldn't be able to. And YES. Student debt. I KNOW. >.>

Yeah, if I had my way, I'd probably be an eternal student.

I'm doing well! It's a little harder than my first novel last year because I actually had an idea of what I was going to be writing this year and had some characters and thoughts already sketched out, but at the same time, I'm having a lot of fun with it. I hit 10k words last night, and I'm trying to build up a bit of a buffer since I'm going to be out of town for ten days starting Saturday, and I'm unsure how much free time I'll have for writing..
